Today has been ears and taxes.
Mar. 10th, 2006 03:02 pmEars and taxes, oh my! :) But the first ear is inked, second ear is sketched and out for review, I've gone through and entire years worth of paypal transactions and figured ALL my sales and income. I still need to do some expenses - my CC XL records only go back to June and the helpdesk was entirely unhelpful and apparently didn't even read my email. Fortunately, I have the hardcopies, so I can input 6 months worth of expenses manually if I have to. Paypal expenses are already pulled together, as are the second credit cards. Reciepts are organized and will be double-checked against all those records.
Sales and income were very reassuring - this business is definitely not a waste of time and energy, though clearly I made some errors of judgement. I'm certainly ready to tackle this year! Now that's it's March already! Ahhhh!! And it's really NICE being able to put money - and significant money, I might add - into the artist community. Very warm feeling. Some of those folks would have made that money without me, but most would not have.

Date: 2006-03-11 12:55 am (UTC)Very true. At the very least in my case. :D As a rule, I don't enjoy traditional commissions, and it's very difficult for someone like me (ie: very small 'fanbase', if there's any to speak of at all, and too lazy to do all the business-end of it) to sell random pictures.
I very much appreciate what you do, even if it doesn't particularly affect me, personally (or, at least, not yet). You should expect a handful of new artists once PA's up and running again. I brag on you/your services a lot and a few of the people I've talked to are interested in joining PA, EMG or both soon. And some of them, at least, have more of a fanbase, which means new customers. :D Horray!

Date: 2006-03-11 07:44 pm (UTC)Ellen: the dreambook came today! It's so cute and I love "Hatchling Unicorn" on the cover! The print-job on it is gorgeous and the uni is adorable. :D I'm steadfastly resisting the urge to color it. >_

Date: 2006-03-11 07:55 am (UTC)How very true! Speacking for hubby, he definitely wouldn't have. In Europe private commissions for fantasy art are next to nil and how to get oneself decently known in the USA? For us going to Cons or so is out of the picture, and there are lots of artists' websites out there taking commissions...
I can tell you that joining EMG and PA made a lot of difference, pat yourself on the back, Ellen
