3 LJ suggestions...
Mar. 20th, 2006 11:59 amThere are 3 things I'd like to see LJ do differently, but I want to make sure I'm not missing a setting somewhere before I go make them to actual LJ staff...
1) Put a login header on friends pages, or a 'hi Ellen' message. You can't tell if you're logged in or not from that page.
2) Don't un-screen comments when you reply to them! I hate hate hate that! When I screen comments, it's so that people feel free to post private information. I hate that it becomes public if I have something to say in return. I always re-screen them, of course, but what a pain. The default is all backwards.
3) When browsing by next/previous entry - skip private/filtered/friendslocked entries. Don't tell me that I can't read that entry and give me no way to browse past it! I don't even want to KNOW that there's a private entry there - it's kind of invasive.

Date: 2006-03-21 09:24 am (UTC)The second point, though, is something that I can completely and totally identify with now. I run a contest community, and I regularly screen comments to posts for submissions and voting, because that's the easiest way to do it...if I need to reply to a comment, it's a hassle trying to go back and re-screen it. I think the default should be to keep it screened, and give us the option to unscreen it. After all, if we were screening in the first place, doesn't that just make more sense?
