Terrible, terrible idea. Deviant art is going to be adding interstitial ads for folks who aren't logged in. Blech, uck, yuck, ew. I HATE those. Gross to the max.

(Yes, I grew up in the 80s.)

Also, perhaps they'd have better advertising revenue if they ANSWERED requests about advertising. For example, my request. From several weeks ago. I got the initial .pdf of 'how great are we' info, but there was nothing about who to pay. So, I wrote back and asked. No answer.

Gah. HATE ads.

Need a stabby icon.

Man. I dislike DA more and more and more...

Honestly, I'm not really sure why I even have accounts there oO

gods.. chicken little just smashed me in the face. no more browsing while at work X-x

only reason I stay there is because linda bergkvist favorited a pile of my stuff and I get a modestly high amount of exposure from that >.>

OH BOY. Great. All of the other nonsense there I didn't really care about but the ad thing actually bothers me enough that I want to pick up and move elsewhere. Trouble is finding a place, since between my ability and that I don't do art that's always easy to put into a particular genre (or in some cases, isn't genre at all), that might be a problem.

Oh yeah - wasn't it "grody to the max"? ;)

Probably, but I was NEVER cool enough to get the slang right. :P

I think it was. I was pretty young in the '80s (between the ages of 1 and 10), but my mom was in her 20's that decade so a lot of the slang stuck in a way it might not have otherwise if she had been older.

My reaction to the dA thing? Gag me with a spoon! ;)

Urgh.

The problem with DA is that while it sucks in so many ways, it's still the best thing for exposure--I get ten thousand times the traffic that I ever got at Elfwood or Epilogue. So until the next big gallery comes along, we're all kinda stuck with it...

So grateful for AdBlock, haven't seen ads anywhere in ages.

Sick the squirrel on them!

For some reason I first read that as "intestinal ads". <:)

or is that supposed to be "sic"...?

I had no idea those were called "interstitial" ads until now... yep, still hate 'em.

The "portfolio" idea sounds theoretically like a good idea. dA's changing around their whole interface, though, so who knows what it'll end up being like when it finally appears.

"Interstitial"? They went right past subcutaneous...and yeah, the ads get under my skin too.

I guess I'll have to find another gallery. I subscribed to keep ads off my page. I know I won't see them, but I don't want my visitors too either.

I am going to post this in my journal too. If enough people complain, maybe they'll change their minds.
