Oh lordy!

I have something I want to do - badly. There's a field painting class in the Brooks Range, between 15-21 June, camping out all week. If you sort of blink blankly at that name, google it. It is one of the most gorgeous places in the world, and it's been too long since I was there. Seriously. Gorgeous. Painting. For a Week.

My parents are willing to pay for the class and fees, even.

The only problem... it's a whole WEEK. I have a big show that starts the 24th, and has to be entirely set up the night before in Eagle River (7 hour drive south from here).

*hyperventilates*

I'd have to get Ursula's book finished before I left. And at least two coloring books. And have product made for the show already packed to transport. And get orders out, and close down the site and... and...

A WEEK of painting in the Brooks Range...

My art gland is about to overload just thinking about it.

It's acrylics, which I've got no particular love or hate for, or much experience in. Or Alkyds, which I frankly know nothing about.

I gotta commit SOON if I'm going to. I feel like a deer in headlights. Wanttowanttocan'tdoittoobusywantWANTWANT.

You will always be busy. Being busy is not an event. A painting seminar week IS.

Look at it this way--in fifty years, will you remember a painting week? Almost certainly. Will you remember a week of being busy with work? Almost certainly not. Will you look back from your deathbed and think fondly about that week you worked really hard back in '96? Can't imagine you would.

Go to the seminar. We'll live. If my book takes longer to get out, then it takes a little longer. No worries.

2006, not '96. Damnit, a great motivational speech ruined by my usual absentmindedness...*grin*

Even if you're worried, we all know you'll have no problem getting everything done, with time to spare. So just do it, 'cause we know you want to. After all, if you didn't really want to, you wouldn't have posted it on here. :)

Ellen,
Since when did you not have too much to do?

You've said yourself on several occasions that your own artwork pays more of your bills than your websites do.

On economic grounds, are you really going to turn down an expense paid opportunity to produce more art which you can then sell to keep the rest of it going?

We love the work you do to help promote our art and we want you to earn lots of money from your own artwork so you can afford to keep doing it.

So go,
do lots of beautiful paintings,
learn new techniques for your artwork
and you'll be doing us all a favour by being an even more sucessful artist as we bask in your reflected glory.

Maybe you can find a way to clone yourself? *giggles*
