I'll be busy, sorry - won't be commenting even as much as I usually do (which isn't much).

I'm doing the cover for the gothic coloring book, and the word 'pretty' has ceased to look like a word. Don't you hate that?

Rhetorical question one: How long is enough patience? A year? 6 months? 10 months? What do you do when someone simply won't discuss something you'd like to move on with?

Rhetorical question two: How much can I bite off before I can't chew?

Ready for Talk Like a Pirate day tomorrow??

Aye, Ah be reddy lass fer yer pirate talkin' t'morrah...

Rhetorical answer one: asking the question is it's own answer.

Rhetorical answer one (part two): Ya gots ta weigh anchor lass afore tha tide runs out...leav'n the poor sot stuck in tha' muck as that be their desire.

Rhetorical answer two: see rhetorical answer one.

I'm at home on my dying monitor so its hard to tell.
Would a "Gothic" font like URW Gothic L? hmm probably too plain.
http://www.lookingatbuildings.org.uk/img_hr/med_trad_beauchamp_chapel.jpg is the kind of thing I think of for the word gothic or http://www.lookingatbuildings.org.uk/img_hr/med_trad_newark_st_mary_magdalene.jpg
Tall narrow shapes with pointy arches, erm tall, bold, black, pointy any help?

The font looks ok, but I reckon the white drop shadow doesn't really suit - I'd be inclined to have the word pretty in white as well, with no added effects. Either that, or with a regular dark drop shadow

What if you changed the font of all the other text to a serif font, in all caps? Something like this:

I think it makes "pretty" stand out a whole lot more in its own font.

I agree. From a graphic design standpoint, if you are going to use a decorative font, just use it the once where it will make the most impact. The legibility of that particular decorative font is poor in the smaller sizes at the bottom.

I would also not use the white drop shadow and instead go for the bright red this above poster has used to make it stand out from the background.

I agree. That works much better.
