Okay folkses!

One of the major reasons people gave for not submitting to EMG-Zine was not having something comfortable to write about!

So, I have some article/review ideas for you.

I would love to include these in the January issue if anyone possibly has enough time to make that happen:

How to keep a dream journal, and why it's useful, possibly with some basic 'dream meanings' discussion. Maybe share bits of yours? Claimed by [livejournal.com profile] puffbird! Thank you! Could still use an article on dream meanings.

Review of any 'following your dreams' books or movies about artists, musicians, writers, etc.
Review of that Robin Williams movie about being dead... where his wife commits suicide... can't think of the title, but didn't it have 'dreams' in it? What Dreams May Come, thanks! Someone want to review this??

Other non-specific articles/columns I want:

Why does mirroring art 'look bad,' and why should you do it to find flaws.

eBay - how to use it best. Basic ebay html templates.

Certificates of authenticity. Do you need them? What should they look like? A few templates.

Contracts for basic commissions, or commercial use of existing work - templates that artists can use.

Discussion/comparison of online galleries for your artwork - where will your work fit best, and what kind of community/gallery experience are you looking for?

My full notes file for future issues:

Genies, bellydancers and more!

Drawing/photographing dancers
The importance of drawing from life and how to get into a group/class, how to do gesture sketches from life in motion.

Pirates versus Ninjas - where does that come from? Who would really win?

October 2007 - Ninjas

Craft fairs and bazaars - get Deb to turn her report into an article on being a first-timer. With pictures! Review some of those places she linked to.
Finish article on doing craft bazaars in general.
Display tips for bazaars/conventions/faires

Also, for 2007, payrates will go up, since that was the second reason listed for non-submissions. :) $15 for features, $5 for reviews, and any artwork used for desktops (generally the 'top' 3 pieces as graded by the artboard) will receive $5. It's still EMG credit, and not, you know, LOTS, but it's a little better.

Same here because it reminds me a lot of my husband and I. :) Even down to his work-a-holic ways. He's an over-achiever and very tough. Not sure how to review the movie though.

I'd be willing to write something up about dream journals. I don't know much about dream meanings, but I've kept dream journals for years, and I often draw on them for art/writing ideas. If that slant will work for what you're going for, let me know. :)

Yes, pretty please - we'd need to get it edited and imported to the site before the 1st, so... as soon as possible! Probably if you got it to us by Christmas, we'd be okay.

Where do I send it once I'm done? I have the formatting instructions from EMGZine, but it doesn't give an email address (that I can see). Do I just email it to you?

editor@emg-zine.com - looks like I managed to edit out the graphic when I last updated the guidelines. *facepalm*

[livejournal.com profile] moonsongsl and I are going to Paris in March, which sort of works out perfectly with the April issue! If I can come up with some article ideas, that is.

What is mirroring art?

I think it's where you place your art either in front of a miror or scan it and flip the image to help you see flaws. Our eyes are tricked by what we've drawn and I've noticed that resizing and mirroring an image helps me see what I did wrong. Of course it usually means pulling out hair too and is frustrating. :/ I don't know -why- it helps with that, though.

Oh, okay. In art class they had us flip our pieces upside down to achieve the same thing. It's an especially useful trick when you're comparing to a reference that you've memorized the lines of from looking at so long.

I don't know a *lot* about traveling with art supplies but I could write a rundown of portable watercolour kits, being as I have one I've used fairly often.

I have a mini COA that I print with my ACEO originals and LEs if you want me to do a quick article on that. I use a template that I half stole/half made myself.

Got two emails from you in my box to answer tonigth after Hannukah celeb, article is one. Yes, I -think- I'm free and can send stuff but have to check on other deadlines. Best ETA would be known after this crazy, hectic weekend.

Robin Williams movie-- What Dreams may come. Haven't seen it in AGES though. :) I'm mostly into BJDs and branching my creativity there, so sadly I'm not up to par with most art topics... ^_^

I'll definitely rewrite my craft-fair report into a formal article. (Yay, I've got time! *lol*) Oh, and I plan to start my pig-themed painting this weekend for February's issue. This is a must-do for me--I was born in the year of the pig, after all! *grin*

ooh...can i ask to do one of those things here, or should i submit a thingy officially?
i'd love to do the "Pirates versus Ninjas - where does that come from? Who would really win?" article, and discuss the hard facts in the scientific light such a serious issue really deserves.
it would be terribly fun. 8-)
