Random Question: What type of scanner do you use for your images? *Mine is sputtering and in it's death throws and I'm looking into a new one and was wondering what your idea of a good scanner was*
I have an Epson... um... something. I will have to check when I get home. I am not sold on it being the greatest thing since sliced cheese, but I've recently bought calibration software that may change my tune. I have in the past used several cheap all-in-ones (you totally get what you pay for, in every way), and the Mustek A3 USB scanner. The Mustek was nice... for a while. It's BIG, which is its major selling point, and scans decently enough, but is very cheaply made, and broke within a year. Their customer service SUCKS. They wanted ME to pay to ship it to them and be without a scanner for an undefined period of time, and didn't reply to my emails or phone calls after the first call. It's slow and the software isn't that hot. So far, the Epson beats it by leaps and bounds. I'll check on that model number and get back to you - I got one that can scan negatives and slides, as well, I dunno if you need that feature or not.
Scanning negatives would be good since I'm very much into photography. I love my current Epson but...I think it has become obsolete. The software only works for OS 9 on the Mac, tho it works halfway decently on my crappy laptop. I know flatbeds are the best type of scanner and while I would like an all-in-one for the copier type functions I don't think they're the best for scanning images and I don't want to shoot myself in the foot by purchasing one. I did find a new Epson at Staples but it's over two hundred dollars and we don't have that kind of cash right now *not with Taxes breathing down our necks* Thanks for the response.
I have the Epson Perfection 4490 Photo - but I think it was a bit more than $200. I remember wondering if it was going to be worth it. So far I'm fairly pleased with it!
