Full day of work. Second coat of orange paint is up. More coding successfully accomplished at Torn World. Leveled up in php again and broke down and did the geek coder thing and found a decent browser emulator so that I can actually CHECK the sites I work on in stupid backwards browsers like IE6. (Microsoft, I hate you a lot right now...) Had grand ideas for other (SHINY) projects. Have mostly kept from committing to them. Jake has flu. DO NOT WANT.

Oh god, Ellen - don't worry about IE6. Even MS has abandoned it. Slip a little line in there about upgrading to a "real" browser.

That would be my preference, too, but it was work for a client who thought it was critical. I found a fix, after some poking! :)

Whenever I work on a new site, I always discuss with the client the kind of customers/clients *they* have. When a large chunk of their customers falls into a category of "reluctant to upgrade" (for reasons of their finances, inertia, age, learning-curve, business needs), then I code in extras for older browsers too. Yeah, hacks are a pain in the butt, but oh well.
