While I like happy endings I think it's more challenging and unique to write tragedy. Good tragic endings are pretty rare actually, now that I think about it. Emphasis on the word good :D

Depends on what the story is, I will say that a tragic ending if written well can be way better than a happyo ne, since in real life how many happy enddis are there? ("There are no happy endings, because nothing ever ends") Write a happy ending AND a sad ending. :)
