ellenmillionMost people - sensible people - would spend a day of sick reading, or playing video games, or watching TV. They would certainly not decide to tackle an extremely tricky, detailed, potentially very damaging database merge.
I am clearly not sensible.
I copied my tables around, and re-aligned some fields, made test copies, and wrote some rather alarmingly easy script that allowed me to compare the data, delete the spam-joins, and merge or add all the members from the EMG-Zine database to the main PA customer database (already combined with the commission-control database), all in anticipation of things that will make you go WOW.
It is done, somehow. I woke up in a daze several times, and if I lost anyone's settings or accounts, I apologize, but I wrote the script for my current mental state, so it was a very straight-forward and mostly moron-proof process. A little tedious. (I thought about grading some pieces at FP and gave up on the notion, figuring this was safer. As I said, NOT sensible!)
After spam-joins were purged out, that left about 500 accounts to merge or add, and the EMG Empire stands at a little over 1100 official accounts.
I've still got to reattach some things at EMG-Zine, so registrations there are closed for a few days. And OMG, my throat hurts and my head is pounding. Ready to try a peroxide gurgle now...
