I have several exciting artwork announcements! (I intended to post about them yesterday, but a certain three-year-old metaphorically stole yesterday and licked it all over. Ew!)

The first is that I am going to be the featured artist in the November issue of Color On! This is a new digital magazine for grown-up coloring, and the November issue will have an interview with me, and five exclusive coloring designs that are honestly some of my best pieces yet. The editor, Mary Winters-Meyer, has posted a teaser of her color version of one of the pieces:

I'll be releasing (web previews of) the five pieces over next week - but the only place to get the high-resolution images to color before next year will be through Color On! They have full-year subscriptions, or you can buy just the November issue (though possibly not until a little later... I'll post a link when it's available!).

I am also going to be the featured artist at SPOTLIGHT on the Art and Artists of Coloring. This is a closed Facebook group - you have to join to see the content (it's free!). You will get a free coloring page (Let Your Hair Down, my Rapunzel piece), and I will be doing a week-long Q&A. If you've got any burning questions, this is a chance to get them answered! https://www.facebook.com/groups/spotlightcoloringartists/

Guppy is hanging on my chair repeating 'Look, look, look!' so I'd better go look...

It snowed several inches on Saturday night, and hasn't entirely melted off. Guppy and I went for a tromp this morning, but it was much shorter than usual; it interfered with her eating, I suspect. After a perfectly respectable breakfast, she demanded three bowls of mac and cheese, a pile of chips and a cup of water. Also chocolate (which she didn't get). All before 10 AM.

Because of the new snow, we were able to see tracks on our walk, and I pointed out Norway's footprints to her, and then some fox prints right next to them, talking about how much smaller a fox was, and how to tell what direction they were going. We followed the tracks down the trail for some ways! (The fox also peed in Norway's food dish overnight, but I didn't point that out...)

Taxes are finally finished. Just need to be double-checked and mailed. We got all gung ho about doing them in January, then found out we owed money, and were less enthused about getting them finished early. Checks are ordered. Orders are filled. Coloring book submissions are re-opened: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/submissions.php

I also designed some new promotional postcards for just my coloring books:

I'm trying 2 sides with this one - I'm curious to see if it's worth paying for printing on the second side. (The first thing anyone ALWAYS does is pick up the card and look at the other side. EVERY TIME.)

Nearly out of nap time, and a few more things to cross off my list, so I'm off to do them...

My artwork, Birth of a Star, appeared in Nature Nurtured last month: http://www.naturenurtured.com/2012/11/28/birth-of-a-star/

I posted to [livejournal.com profile] crowdfunding with a recap of various crowdfunding projects and plans for the new year. (Last week) http://crowdfunding.livejournal.com/491657.html

Over at [livejournal.com profile] torn_world, I have posted an Introduction to the Project post, and a Meet-and-Greet for LJ users. Come say Hi! If you aren't watching this community, and you're the teeniest bit interested in Torn World, you should be - and this is a great time to start, as I will be starting some overview and backstory posts that will get us geared up for the big North-meets-South plotlines.

It's finally warm! Like, above zero!

I have been hesitant to put the carseat base actually IN the car, because it's made of plastic, and the last thing I want to do is crack it trying to buckle it in at 30 below. (Though really, you do have to hope that it doesn't become brittle at these temperatures - have they actually been tested for such extremes??)

Anyway, I'm actually doing the hospital bag packing now, and eyeing the carseat. Where do you like to put it? Behind you for ease of installing baby? Or behind the passenger seat so you can turn and look at them without going all Exorcist? (I am not daft enough to put her in the front seat, or in the far back. I'm new to this, but not stupid.)

And what sorts of things did you most appreciate having in your hospital bag? Anything you didn't use at all and wish you hadn't brought?

We continue to be dead stumped on a middle name we both like, so if you have suggestions for a name to go with Elsa, I'd like to hear them. Many will be eliminated because our first criteria is that it can't show up in either of our families, I don't want it to be too similar to mine (Marie) because Elsa is already somewhat like Ellen, and I don't want to know anyone with the name. (And I don't have to tell you to be nice, do I? I've been warned that this is a contentious subject, but I'm going to trust you not to be jerks to each other.)

Internet and phone are miraculously back, and I called to cancel the technical support! I suspect something weird was going on in the lines due to the fact that it's warmed up 50 degrees in the last day or so.

A tad more energy today. Dishes now, and maybe some writing. Lots of Torn World administrative schtuff accomplished today, waiting on one response to mail out the contest ballots.

Oh! I've been nominated for some Rose and Bay awards! Torn World and EMG-Zine are contenders in Other Projects, Edward Cammarota is nominated for his support of Torn World, EMG-Zine and Sketch Fest under Patrons, Sketch Fest and my Prompted Abstracts are up in Art, and Torn World is also nominated in Poetry. Lots of awesome creative nominees; I recommend browsing the other entries, too - you can vote for more than one! You may also want to check out Webcomics or Fiction.

Go join her mailing list so she writes this story that I really want to read: http://mizkit.livejournal.com/669399.html

I have to take my poor dog to the vet today to get a tooth extracted, and do a mail run (whyyyyyyy hasn't the anthology proof shipped yet?!) and program on some sites (commission-control at the top of the list). My laptop may be here as early as TOMORROW! Eeeeee!

I've done some more brushup at my personal site the last few days, and have a new product to share with you: Watercolor paper prints! These are not color prints, these are linework prints on Arches hotpress watercolor paper - for YOU to paint. My coloring books are awesome, but painting on regular paper just doesn't give you the same results as using a high quality painting surface and never will.

Additionally, I have dropped the first tier of shipping rates throughout the EMG network, from $7 to $6, and added a media rate option, if you are only ordering books (coloring books or anthologies through Torn World or EMG-Zine). I've also added details about ordering the Torn World anthology with check or money order: http://www.tornworld.net/familyties.php

Remember to spread the word about the Torn World anthology, and you can earn free ACEO prints - and a chance at originals! We also have review copies of the ebook available - apply at the order page! If I were an insecure kind of person, I would think that I haven't gotten any feedback on the copies out in the wild yet because it is awful and no one wants to tell me. Luckily, I'm not that person. (Repeats to self: I am NOT that person. I am not that person. I am really not that person...)

The person that I am needs to get going now...

A gorgeous volume of stories, poetry and artwork, this anthology is a great starting place for getting a taste of Torn World. Family Ties and Torn Skies is arranged chronologically in two segments: the isolated snow-unicorn riders of the north, and the sprawling Empire of the south, with information blurbs and introductions to help orient you to this vast and finely detailed setting. Meet the fascinating characters who are shaping our current storylines, and get a glimpse at some of the conflicts and adventures being set into motion. Framed around the topic of family and coming of age, this collection offers 266 page of content in a trade paperback format (5" x 7.5"). Pre-order the hardcopy version (mails mid-June or earlier!) and receive the e-book pdf free! (Kindle and other e-versions coming... once I've replaced my computer or re-formated it...)

Subscribers at Torn World, be sure to log in before ordering, because you get 10% off! (subscribe for as little as $5 and get access to everything at the site!)

I have a new story for supporters up at Torn World: Making Fires. It is a sweet, short prequel to Lorna Cowie's Band of Ivory, and can be sponsored for $7.50 (Or send Torn World/EMG Credits.) Sponsored!

In celebration of Sea Monster month, which starts today, I have also made A Little Luck publicly available! Join Iremema on a adventure in the northern seas using brand new technology! At the end of May, it will go back to supporters-only, unless it is sponsored, for $14.00. (Or send Torn World/EMG Credits.) Sponsored!

Sponsorships mean that I can keep writing, and the stories you sponsor are available publicly to anyone. You can see a full list of the stories I have available for sponsorship here! For less than the cost of a hardcopy book (in most cases), you can have personal patronage of a story and be responsible for everyone having access to enjoy it.

I am also taking artwork commissions, limited to three slots right now. These can be writing or artwork. Contact me for information! Flash fiction, quick sketches and small abstract art (give me a palette and a keyword and see what happens) start at $15.

There is a new issue of EMG-Zine up, and I am giving you a week of forewarning: the cost of the EMG-Zine anthologies is going up. Going through the pricing hoops for the anthology made me take another hard look at these, and I am no longer of the 'discount it until someone buys it' mindset. We are 85% of the way to funding EMG-Zine for another 6 months, and anthology sales count towards that goal!

I am happy to bundle shipping of the EMG-Zine anthologies together with the Torn World anthology; this should be available for pre-order this week (today, if the stars align...).

I finished some artwork this weekend, as well as the major plumbing coup of moving the laundry down into the basement, and got some work done on Torn World stuff. Today, I have to do some freelance programming, and hopefully work the kinks out of the Torn World ebook. Computer, quit running slow; I have too much to do!
