ellenmillion: I get stuff done (i get stuff done)
2022 was a trashfire of stress...and it still turned out pretty well. I wrote books I'm really proud of, and I got a few bestseller flags, and I did some art I love and worked on a project of my heart. It was a rollercoaster. I'm not sad to see the year end, but I grew and loved and created and it was worth it.

Some of my proudest highlights: The Dragon Prince's Secret and The Dragon Prince's MagicDragon's Instinct. The Flamingo's Fated MateJanuravenJunicornHare TodayGnome Sweet GnomeFirst Comes Love trilogy and an impulsive free Christmas story

Goals for 2023:

Man, I trimmed this list a BUNCH, and it still looks like a lot.

  • Release Suddenly Squirrel
  • Revise and publish Unicorn's Instinct.
  • Write and publish The Dragon Prince's Betrayal
  • Write and publish The Bear in the Birdbath (Lawn Ornament Shifters 3)
  • Write and publish Wolf Without Warning (Suddenly Shifters)
  • One more book? Gryphon's Instinct? New series?? Ack!
  • Finish Shifting Sands Resort in audio
  • Get Green Valley Shifters into audio
  • Frank merchandise on Redbubble
  • Write more efficiently and improve my craft
  • Up my newsletter and marketing game
  • Januraven
  • Junicorn
  • Finish my Secret Passion Project

A roundup of monthly accomplishments!

Artwork

5 pieces for Sketch Fest: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&page=2&date=92

I won #inktober!

Several big, complicated pieces, and a few easier or rougher ones. The last one was really phoned in, but I was so not going to give up when I was that close.

I officially released only a few of these - more would be released in November with the coloring book, and some of them are still on hold pending publication.

Writing

I finished a book! This was the fastest (to date) that I'd completed a book, wrapping up in 6 weeks. I wrote 11k of those words in October.

Other

So. Many. Playdates.
There were many small personal upheavals and minor dumpster fires.
And no snow to speak of, which is very weird for us.

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos!

Artwork

June was #junicorn. SO MUCH #JUNICORN. Here's the landing page, showing all 30 unicorn pieces that I did. http://ellenmillion.dreamwidth.org/1604777.html

I did 6 of the #junicorn ACEOs for the June Sketch Fest. https://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=88

I also did some Portrait Adoptions: https://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2941 and https://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2947 and http://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2949

I released this piece at Torn World:

(This was the first five exclusive pieces I did for the July issue of Color On! Magazine.)

And this also went up at Torn World: http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=543

Writing

I wrote just shy of 15k words on my next not-a-book. *panting*

Other

Summer camp was AWESOME.

Two movies in the theatre: Guardians of the Galaxy 2, and Wonder Woman, both wonderful.

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos!

April started late - I spent the first several weeks doing a whirlwind grandparent tour of three different states. I attempted #faepril, but burned out after 7 or eight of them, and wasn't particularly happy with any of them. I was also working ridiculous hard on exclusive work that I won't be able to show off until July (except to Patreon patrons!), so it was a brief month from the outside...

Artwork:

My big release was this painting, for 78Tarot:

I also did three rough sketches for Sketch Fest #86: http://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestartist.php?id=9&date=86
All of them were for my failed #faepril attempt, none of them were very polished!

A poem for subscribers at Torn World: http://www.tornworld.net/storypageview.php?id=614

Almost no not-a-book writing.

Other:

Livejournal's insistence on adding advertising for visitors (despite my paid account!) was the final nail in that coffin, and I imported my journal to Dreamwidth, which is where my primary blogging now is.

I had a cold for a few weeks of the month. When I went to the doctor, they said 'walking pnemonia?' I said PLBT! and refused to get xrays, and was better then next week.

At Portrait Adoption:

At Sketch Fest, I did 6 (!) pieces, 3 coloring page sketches, 2 little paintings (for Torn World, below), and a toned paper portrait sketch (finished as a portrait, above).

For Torn World:

(several more were posted at the site, but they're part of April's update because that's when I released them in my blog.)

I did sketches at the Morris Thompson complex, including this one:

(Patreon patrons got more sketches.)

Writing

STILL NONE. (Okay, I did a little outlining.)

Other

A bear photo of Guppy on her birthday:

I re-coded Torn World to use the database of the rest of EMG. It was a MASSIVE upgrade, and I also added Muse Fusion functionality at the site itself.

I also worked on several projects that wouldn't be released until much later!

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos! - More catch-up! February looked unremarkable, too, because I was working on a MAJOR secret project. Patreon patrons got a lot of sneak previews of the project, but publicly, I was pretty quiet.

Artwork:

One of the sketches I did on vacation the month prior.

At Portrait Adoption:

Just one sketch (a little painting) for Sketch Fest: https://www.ellenmilliongraphics.com/sketchfest/sketchfestart.php?id=20409

Writing:

A little brainstorming. No actual words, I think.

Other:

My favorite photo, from January's vacation:

I did taxes. Woot.

And I published a book. It spent a few days in the top 500 books of Amazon, which was lovely!

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos! - I'm still catching up on these. January was pretty slim - I spent most of the month on vacation!

Artwork

For Portrait Adoption:

One piece for the January Sketch Fest:

Some pieces and photos were also shared with my Patreon Patrons, but a few of them would be shared publicly the following month!

Writing

Nada.

Have you missed some of my creative updates over the last month? I'm doing monthly roundups to try to keep some sense in the chaos! - and now I'm playing catchup, as apparently, I'm 5 months behind. *facepalm*

Artwork:

I did this piece for a submitted description:

(It wasn't claimed, so if you'd be interested in this original, it's $20. Half-price if you are a Patreon supporter!)

I did a sketch for Sketch Fest... and never posted it. OOPS.

New at Portrait Adoption: https://portraitadoption.com/portrait.php?id=2795

New at Torn World: a Squatty Goose (from #inktober): http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=532

And Skykittens: http://www.tornworld.net/artpageview.php?id=531
(Artwork from Jan 2015, but only just posted to the Torn World site)

Writing:

I did a first round of edits on my third not-a-book and started vague-plotting my fourth.

Other:

I changed a tire at 30 below. Rar!

There was Christmas, with a tree and everything. I AM NEVER DOING TINSEL AGAIN.

Released:

A very brave thing I can't really post about yet... with no definitive answer yet.
